Designer Statement

I’m Karima, a designer who brings hidden narratives to light through data visualization. With a background in architecture, I am currently a Master of Industrial Design candidate at the Rhode Island School of Design. I explore how design can be a tool for social impact; transforming complex data into visuals that inform, challenge, and inspire.

My current work focuses on how migration and displacement shape identity and belonging. I interact with these topics on a scale ranging from carrying out personal interviews to analyzing mass migration datasets. By weaving data with design, I aim to reveal overlooked patterns, challenge dominant narratives, and create visuals that spark conversation and empathy. Whether through speculative design, interactive experiences, or visual storytelling, I explore how information can be transformed into meaning and how meaning can inspire change.
