Unraveling Copper’s Narrative through the Trans Saharan Trade Routes

In the 10th century AD, copper ore traversed the Trans-Saharan Trade Routes, moving from sub- Saharan African mines to the north. This exchange epitomized not only the trade of physical goods but, more significantly, facilitated the transfer of ideas and fostered cultural discourse. My project delves into the historical role of natural resources such as copper in connecting societies. This piece is the culmination of a graduate-level, summer-intensive, research course.
